14.1 – Devotion

Have you ever been camping? Some people love to go camping and enjoy the beautiful things God created. Other people don’t like to sleep on the hard ground, surrounded by bugs, in the heat of summer.

When Israel left Egypt, they took a long camping trip to their new home in the Promised Land. God promised to be with them and take care of them, but they didn’t always trust Him. They complained that they were hungry, thirsty, and tired. When Moses left them for a little while to talk to God, they made an idol and worshiped it instead of God! They didn’t believe God would keep His promises, and they were angry and scared because they thought He wouldn’t take care of them.

God always keeps His promises, and He was taking care of Israel the whole time. God gave Israel food and water when they were hungry and thirsty, and He kept them safe from their enemies. Even when they worshiped an idol, God still didn’t leave them. Instead, He restored His covenant with them, promising again to be their God and take care of them.

Our lives can be uncomfortable and frustrating sometimes. When bad things happen, we try to blame it on God or turn away from Him. Even when we break our promises to Him, He never breaks His promises to us! He is always with us and He will always love us, take care of us, and forgive us.

  1. When do you get frustrated or scared? Thank God that He is always with you!
  2. How does God take care of you?
  3. How have you seen God keep His promises in your life?

Let’s pray:

Dear God, thank You for always keeping Your promises to us. Please be with us when we are frustrated, angry, and scared. Help us to trust that You will take care of us, and You will never leave us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
