You’ve probably seen tons of signs in your lifetime. Signs label important things, so you’ve likely seen signs labeling roads, buildings, artwork, and more.
Jesus performed signs during His ministry. He turned water into wine at a wedding, He healed an official’s son who was about to die, and He healed a man unable to walk for thirty-eight years. These are just a few of Jesus’ signs; He did many more during His earthly life!
Signs label important things. Jesus’ signs labeled Him as the Messiah. God’s people waited on the Savior for thousands of years, and these signs showed them that Jesus was the Savior and Messiah they had waiting for! Only God could perform miracles like these; no regular person could heal people or create wine from water. When people saw these signs, God created and strengthened faith in them. They believed Jesus truly was the Messiah!
Jesus is our Savior and Messiah too. On our own, we can’t have faith in Him, no matter how hard we try. Satan tries to convince us God isn’t real, or He is a liar, or He doesn’t care about us. That is why God gives us signs labeling Jesus as our Messiah and gives us faith! The Bible tells us Jesus died for us, Baptism washes away sins, and the Lord’s Supper gives forgiveness in Jesus’ body and blood. These signs create and strengthen faith in us. They make it clear that Jesus is our Savior and Messiah.

Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus, the Messiah, to be our Savior. We praise You for the Bible, Baptism, and the Lord’s Supper that help us to believe in Him. Please strengthen our faith every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
